Stephen's Banded Snake

The Stephens’ Banded Snake, this species is rarely encountered by snake catchers on the Sunshine Coast. This species is considered potentially dangerously venomous. This species is quite arboreal meaning they are fairly good climbers and are only active during the night. This species will often shelter in tree hollows and under dense ground cover within rainforest areas.

Body colour is brown with broad dark cross-bands that are thicker than the paler brown inter-spaces. They can however lack bands entirely. They have a broad head which is black in colour with a brown crown, browny/creamy coloured patch on the side of the back of its neck and creamy white blotches/bars on either side of the head and lips.

Just remember guys snakes should only be handled or relocated by people with the appropriate permit or license to do so!
